About the Author
Trevor Leggett (1914–2000) was a British judo teacher, author, translator, and head of the BBC’s Japanese Service for 24 years. He published over thirty books on a variety of topics including judo, Eastern philosophy and Zen Buddhism. If Trevor Leggett is involved, you know the book is worth buying. This book is well written. The great strength of Mr. Leggett's writing is that he never loses sight of the practical implications of what the Masters have written. Here we have the inclusion of the classic `On Meditation' by the master Daidaku and rare translations of the Kamakura koans. You will read this book over and over again. A must for your zen library.
After studying Zen for more than thirty years, I can say that this book is direct. It cuts to the bone of a philosophically elusive topic. I happened on this book at my local university, while looking for this information. I can't recommend a better book for those wishing for a better understanding of ZEN.
My first book about Zen. It gives a great overview of the discipline.
