About the Author
Dr. Hamilton received his Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1978. He has taught statistics courses from undergraduate to advanced graduate levels at the University of New Hampshire and has written numerous statistics texts and software manuals, including MODERN DATA ANALYSIS, REGRESSION WITH GRAPHICS, and DATA ANALYSIS FOR SOCIAL SCIENTISTS. I recommend this book for STATA users. It gives excellent guidance with examples. I had to use it at postgraduate level and I was not very familiar with the software at the time because I had been using SPSS. I was able to navigate my way through and do my advanced level statistics using the book. I got the electronic version which is just like the print.
If you want a thorough book on Stata, this is the Stata Bible. I am an advanced user and it always helps to have a book as a reference for my statistical research. Well written and clearly explained.
This textbook touches on most of the statistical approaches that is popular, such as multilevel and mixed effect models, logistic regression and survival analysis, and all the basic stuff one needs. It does not go into great depth, but shows you how to do the most popular and relevant analytic tricks that you are likely to need. The examples are interesting and simply explained, easy enough to follow. The dataset is available online at [...] It is a useful book, and if you are learning to use Stata v. 12 you should read it.

No Problem
Never buy this until the data set is available. The data set is not provided together, so this book is useless now. I hope everyone does not make a mistake like me any more. Shipping is really slow.
