My husband is a history buff and enjoys reading all about the history of the places we are going to before we leave on our trips and I like knowing what to do and where to eat while visiting countries and this book contains both. It also thoroughly explains the history and working of the Panama Canal in an easy-to-read format. The entire book is very fact filled and interesting. I am so glad I bought it.
This book struck me more as a text book. It is printed on cheap newsprint type paper with a large font and wide margins. The author covered multiple cruise lines and their various ports of call. I was expecting information regarding the Panama Canal not what to do in Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Vallarta, or wherever. I wanted a book about THE canal and the experience of actually travel through the Panama Canal. The only worthwhile information I found is that cruise ships pass through during daylight hours.
We used it to refer to on our cruise.
I bought the paper back version. The preview shows color pictures but my book is printed in Black and White only. There are a ton of pictures in the book, was disappointed a book updated for 2018/2019 has no color. Still looking at the books content to comment on it.
Very light informative reading of the Panama Canal and cruise ships port-o-calls. I should have read this book prior to the cruise thru the canal.
